Laos Opens 12th National Games with Grand Ceremony

Vientiane: The 12th National Games, the largest sporting event in Laos, officially commenced with a grand ceremony at the National Stadium in Vientiane. The event drew attendees from across the country, celebrating the start of an extensive sports competition.

According to Nam News Network, Atsaphangthong Siphandone, governor of Vientiane, addressed the audience during the opening ceremony, highlighting the event's significance as a platform for promoting public health, friendship, and national sportsmanship. The ceremony showcased vibrant sectoral parades and cultural performances, including boat-racing demonstrations and traditional Lao dances, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion.

The 12th National Games is set to continue until November 25, featuring a total of 33 sports. The event involves 9,485 participants, comprising athletes, coaches, referees, technicians, and officials, all contributing to the competitive spirit and camaraderie of the games.
