Some 1,212 new Covid-19 cases and five new deaths have been recorded nationwide over the previous 24 hours, the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported on Dec 9. Detected among 4,925 people tested for Covid-19, the newly reported infections have raised the total to 84,503 including 224 deaths.
The new confirmed cases included 1,196 classified as domestic infection and 16 as imported cases. Wednesday witnessed 751 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals nationwide, Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference on Dec 9.
The new infections included 610 cases documented in Vientiane, 101 in Oudomxay, 99 in Xieng Khuang, 87 in Luang Prabang, 63 in Bokeo, 39 in Borikhamxay, and 34 in Vientiane (province).
