Vientiane: The Laos-China Railway has successfully managed over 60 million passenger trips, reflecting its significant impact on regional connectivity and transportation. This milestone comes amid recent enhancements to the railway service, aimed at accommodating growing passenger demand.

According to Lao News Agency, to address the increasing number of travelers, the railway service introduced a second pair of international trains between Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province, and Vientiane in Laos this July. This addition effectively doubled the number of daily trains to four, enhancing accessibility and convenience for passengers.

The service improvements also include the introduction of dedicated ticketing windows, the acceptance of foreign payment methods, and the optimization of cross-border booking systems. These measures have contributed to an impressive passenger volume of 15.48 million so far this year, marking a 2.38 percent increase compared to the previous year.

The China-Laos Railway, which officially commenced operations in December 2021, began offering international services connecting Kunming and Vientiane in April 2023. This vital railway link continues to play an essential role in strengthening ties and facilitating travel between the two regions.
