Laos Assumes Vice-Presidency of 76th UN General Assembly Session

The Lao PDR began its Vice Presidency of the 76th United Nations General Assembly Session by chairing the last session of the High-level Meeting on the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action on Wednesday.

The Durban Declaration and Programme of Action – a landmark anti discrimination framework – was adopted at the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in 2001.

Laos, represented by its Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Anouparb Vongnorkeo, also chaired the 6th Plenary Meeting of General Debate where state leaders from 13 countries took turn in addressing their remarks via a video conference.
