The Lao Red Cross has set an ambitious target of having around 73,000 people donate blood this year, according to Mr Chanthala Souksakhone, Head of the National Blood Institute, Lao Red Cross.

“Last year, blood donation by general public members reached 68,000 units,” said Mr Chanthala Souksakhone.

The National Blood Institute in cooperation with Phongsavanh Insurance (APA) organized a blood drive in Vientiane to encourage general public to donate more blood.

“APA Insurance will grant a personal accident insurance to each of the first 1,000 people who have donated and will donate blood from Feb 14 onwards,” said Ms Sengdao Buphakonkham, Excutive Board of the APA.
