Kaysone Phomvihane’s Thought on Information Affairs symposium held

The Committee on Research on Kaysone Phomvihane’s Thought in cooperation with the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism held a scientific symposium to discuss the compilation of studies into President Kaysone’s thought on information affairs.

The seminar brought together policymakers, scientists, senior officials of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism as well as heads of media organisations and senior journalists.

“This symposium under the theme: Kaysone Phovihane’s Thought on Information Affairs” is of theoretical and practical importance. It is greatly beneficial to the learning of leadership, theoretical and practical work of our Party so that we can have a reference for implementing the Party and government policy on information affairs,” said Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Consultant to the Committee on Research on Kaysone Phomvihane’s Thought.

“Therefore, I would like to call on scientists, ministries, organisations and the participants to uphold their political responsibilities, contemplating on the essence of his thoughts and theories so that they can be a theoretical guidance treasury for the information sector,” said Mr. Somsavat.

“This is the first and historic time for the MoICT to study into Kaysone Phomvihane’s thoughts. The responsible committee have conducted a study into six topics so far namely Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on information affairs during the national liberation cause, Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on information affairs and media in the national protection and development era, Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on personel development in the information sector, Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on the production of media content, Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on Party leadership in the mass media sector and Kaysone Phomvihane’s thought on the use of cutting edge tools for publicity purposes,” said Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaketh.

These topics, once approved, will become a reference for research, and a development mast plan for the information and media sector in the future and become a good lesson for ideological education of officials in the information and media sector.
