The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction on August 30 held an inauguration ceremony for the expanded Binh Hung wastewater treatment plant and its collection system in Binh Chanh district, as part of Phase 2 of the southern metropolis’s water environment improvement project. This expansion represents the largest investment of the project, with a total budget of approximately 11.3 trillion VND (454.27 million USD), sourced from Japanese ODA loans via the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and domestic reciprocal funds. The expansion will enable the Binh Hung plant to increase its treatment capacity to 469,000 cubic metres of wastewater per day, up by 328,000 cubic meters compared to Phase 1. This will allow the city to manage wastewater across a wider area of over 2,500 hectares, serving a population of around 1.8 million people.
