Vientiane:Guangxi An event themed ‘Discover Guangxi’ was recently organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi to commemorate the 65th anniversary of China-Laos diplomatic relations and the China-Laos Friendship Year.
According to Lao News Agency, the event was attended by Mr. Phakhanxay Sikhanxay, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR, and Ms. Chen Yijun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee and Head of its Publicity Department, along with various Lao and Chinese tourism officials and business representatives.
The event highlighted Guangxi’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, and tourism routes, providing a platform for tourism businesses from both countries to exchange information and explore cooperation opportunities. Chinese artists contributed to the event with cultural performances.
Mr. Phakhanxay noted that the event exemplified growing practical cooperation between Laos and China under the Belt and Road Initiative, bolstering t
he comprehensive strategic partnership and the Laos-China community with a shared future. He emphasized that this cooperation builds on the Joint Statement on Building a Laos-China Community with a Shared Future, signed during a high-level state visit in June 2026.
Guangxi is a key gateway for China-ASEAN cooperation and is renowned for its diverse cultural and natural attractions, such as the karst landscapes of Guilin, Detian Transnational Waterfall, the Bama longevity region, and Huashan Rock Art, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The initiative is expected to enhance tourism exchanges, business links, and people-to-people connectivity between Guangxi and Laos.
