Vientiane:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a special lecture to honor significant national historical milestones, including the 117th birthday of President Souphanouvong and the 81st anniversary of the Nationwide Day of Seizing Power.
According to Lao News Agency, the event also celebrated the 49th anniversary of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, 64 years of Laos-Vietnam diplomatic relations, 76 years since the founding of the Lao Front for National Construction, the 35th anniversary of the Lao PDR Constitution, and 81 years of Lao diplomacy.
The ceremony was led by Mr. Maithong Thammavongsa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was attended by over 450 participants, including Party Committee members and ministry leaders. Mr. Maithong emphasized President Souphanouvong’s role in the national liberation struggle and the importance of enhancing public awareness of bilateral cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
The lecture aimed to deepen officials’ understanding of Laos’ historical traditions, foreign policy, and diplomatic ties, particularly with Vietnam. Mr. Maithong urged Party members and civil servants to uphold Party traditions, learn from past experiences, and improve leadership to meet modern demands.
He called on ministry officials to build a strong and steadfast Party organization and advance the country’s foreign affairs in alignment with national goals.
