Foreign Minister Araqchi Engages in Diplomatic Discussions at BRICS Summit in Brazil

Rio de janeiro: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met and held talks with senior foreign officials from Bolivia, China, and Thailand in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit. According to Lao News Agency, in his meeting with Bolivian President Luis Arce Catacora, the two sides discussed the current situation of bilateral ties, calling for the expansion of political, economic, and international cooperation. The Bolivian president wrote on his X account that the two parties held talks to make progress regarding important issues of bilateral collaboration. During this meeting, Catacora condemned U.S.-Israel military aggression against Iran, saying that the Islamic Republic plays a constructive role in international developments and cooperation with independent countries in the fight against unilateralism. Araqchi also met with Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai in Rio de Janeiro, where the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest. Additionally, the Iranian foreign minister held talks with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Ma Zhaoxu. The two officials discussed Iran-China ties, the latest international developments, particularly in the West Asia region, as well as the aftermath of recent military aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran. The Chinese official condemned the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran, expressing Beijing's serious concern about the escalation of tensions and insecurity in the region. The 17th BRICS Summit, held on July 6-7, brought together a group comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran.
