Feasibility Study to Be Conducted for Expressway Project in Luang Namtha Province

Luang namtha: A ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the feasibility study of an expressway project from the Boten International Checkpoint to Nateuy in Luang Namtha Province took place on October 27, 2025, in Luang Namtha.

According to Lao News Agency, the agreement also covers projects for the construction, upgrading, and maintenance of National Highway No. 13 North, which spans from the Oudomxay provincial border to the Boten International Checkpoint, covering 18 km. Additionally, it includes National Highway No. 13 R, stretching from the Nateuy village T-junction to the Bouamphiang village T-junction in Luang Namtha District, covering 28 km.

The MOU was signed between the Luang Namtha Provincial Administration and Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Mr. Onchan Khamphavong, Deputy Governor of Luang Namtha Province, Mr. Anixay Soukhavong, President of Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd., along with other officials.

Mr. Chanthachon Keolakhon, Head of the Bridge and Road Sector of the Luang Namtha Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, stated that the purpose of the MOU is to gather data and conduct a feasibility study for the expressway construction from the Boten International Checkpoint to Nateuy. He highlighted that Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd. has been authorized to survey and identify the proposed route for the expressway, ensuring effective management, monitoring, and follow-up of all tasks during the feasibility study phase.

The project is set to be implemented in full compliance with the relevant laws and regulations of the Lao PDR, with the study period designated for 18 months.
