Easterlies, ‘amihan’ continue to bring isolated rains over parts of PHBinh Dinh seeks to boost tourism cooperation with southern Lao provinces

MANILA: The northeast monsoon or ‘amihan’ affecting Northern and Central Luzon, and the easterlies prevailing over the rest of the country will continue to bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over parts of the country, the weather bureau said Thursday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon.

On the other hand, the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms may result in flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao will experience moderate to strong wind
s and moderate to rough seas, while the rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 23°C to 31°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 25°C; Laoag City, 25°C to 33°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 25°C to 30°C; Puerto Princesa City, 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 33°C.

Binh Dinh: A meeting was held in Binh Dinh on December 28 to discuss how to promote tourism development link between the south-central province, and Atapu, Sekong, Champasak and Salavan province, southern Laos.

According to Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee Lam Hai Giang, delegates were provided with information about destinations, tourism products and services and tourism resources, helping them understand more about the history, culture, nature and people of Binh Dinh, thus expanding cooperation between Binh Dinh and southern provinces of Laos to develop appropriate tourism products in the future.

Binh Dinh will continue to focus on effectively implement cooperation programmes among sides, and work closely with the Lao localities to contribute to further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Giang said.

Jointly organised by the Department of Tourism of Binh Dinh and tourism management agencies of the south
ern Lao provinces, the event aims to concretise a cooperation agreement for the 2021 – 2025 period signed on March 30, 2023 between the Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee and the authorities of the Lao localities.

Previously, a delegation of the Lao localities including representatives from tourism associations and travel agencies, and owners of hotels and tourist sites, made a trip to famous tourist destinations in Binh Dinh, which serves developing tours and tourism products in the future./.
