DSWD, Misamis Oriental partners on AICS expansion

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to partner with the Misamis Oriental provincial government to improve the efficient use of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

In an interview on Tuesday, DSWD Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) information officer Oliver Inodeo said Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Governor Peter Unabia will sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Nov. 22 to enable beneficiaries to avail of the AICS while admitted in eight provincial hospitals.

“This means that AICS will be more accessible because clients will no longer go out of the hospital to process [the cash assistance],” he said.

Inodeo said the MOA outlines the commitment of DSWD to ensure the AICS for indigent patients in the provincial hospitals.

The financial aid, capped at PHP50,000 per beneficiary, will be facilitated through a guarantee letter, with disbursement subject to the assessment of social workers.

Part of the MOA is the deployment of medical social workers, provide
d by the provincial government to each hospital, who will undertake billing procedures for the financial assistance.

The eight provincial hospitals set to benefit from the collaboration are located in Gingoog City, and the municipalities of Magsaysay, Talisayan, Claveria, Balingasag, Alubijid, Initao, and Manticao.
