MANILA: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is now preparing a feasibility study on the construction of a logistics corridor in Luzon via the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas rail line.
In a news release on Friday, Transportation Undersecretary Timothy John Batan said the funding for the study is now being prepared.
‘Ang ating tinatayong logistics corridor ay hindi lang maidugtong ang ating pantalan sa Subic at ating airport sa Clark at ng sa ganon ay umabot tayo sa Port of Manila at (The logistics corridor we are building will not only connect our port in Subic and our airport in Clark and then we will reach the Port of Manila and) Port of Batangas,’ Batan said.
He said the big-ticket project will be a joint initiative with the United States, Sweden, and the Asian Development Bank.
He said because of financial acquisition issues, the original Subic-Clark Railway did not materialize.
However, he said this led to a new study of a longer Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas rail line.

He said the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas Railway will connect Subic Port with Clark International Airport, Port of Manila and Port of Batangas.
Following their historic trilateral meeting in April, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier said United States President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida declared their support for the infrastructure development and connectivity in the Philippines through the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment.
