From April 30 to May 7, the province welcomed over 370,000 tourist arrivals who came to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The Dien Bien Phu Historical Museum and the complex of the Dien Bien Phu battlefield relics were full to their capacity on the days, hosting thousands of visitors each day. As local hotels were full at that time, authorities encouraged more than 140 households to provide accommodation for 2,000 people. As the host of the Visit Vietnam Year 2024, Dien Bien eyes to welcome 1.3 million visitors and gain some 2.2 trillion VND (86.48 million USD) in tourism revenue for the whole year.
