Delegates of National Congress Cast Votes for 12th Party Central Committee

Vientiane: This afternoon, the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) held a ballot to elect the members of its 12th Party Central Committee that will be tasked with shouldering the weighty responsibilities entrusted by the Party and the multi-ethnic Lao people. The congress opened on the morning of January 6, 2026, at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, with a focus on enhancing leadership, building an independent economy, consolidating the democratic system, and advancing towards socialism.

According to Lao News Agency, the congress was attended by Secretary General of the Party Central Committee Thongloun Sisoulith, members of the Party Central Committee's Politburo and Secretariat, Party Central Committee members, veteran revolutionaries, national heroes, and a total of 835 full Party member delegates, including 123 female delegates. These delegates represent over 421,800 Party members nationwide.

The composition of the congress delegates was ensured to be structurally sound, qualified, and up to standard, with all necessary conditions fully met. They represent various social strata, ethnic groups, and genders, having been elected through congresses of Party committees in ministries, ministry-level organizations, and localities across the country.
