The Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-11) was adjudged as the best regional office among the 17 PROs in the country during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary on Tuesday. Brigadier Gen. Alden Delvo, PRO-11 director, said Wednesday the award was attained after careful deliberation and scrutiny of all PRO achievements from March 2022 to April 2023. ‘We commit to maintain and even improve the current peace and order situation of Davao region through the strict implementation of Patrol Rehiyon Onse and other existing anti-criminality programs of the PNP (Philippine National Police),’ Delvo, who received the award at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Gen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City, said in a statement. According to Delvo, PRO-11 garnered a high success rate in investigating and filing cases during the period. With its intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign, he said PRO-11 managed to arrest 3,038 illegal drug personalities and confiscate more than 4,036 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP27.4 million. Also, around 45,916 grams of marijuana dried leaves, 26,750 marijuana hills, and 55.5 grams of marijuana “kush” were seized amounting to some PHP10.9 million. ‘It led to the declaration of the seven drug-free municipalities in the region,’ he added. Delvo was referring to the towns of Talaingod and San Isidro in Davao del Norte; Malalag, Davao del Sur; Sta. Maria and Malita in Davao Occidental; Boston, Davao Oriental; and Mawab, Davao de Oro, which were declared drug-free on Nov. 17, 2022. Insurgency-free region Similarly, in October of the same year, the Regional Peace and Order Council 11 declared Region 11 as insurgency-free through the collaborative efforts of the PRO-11 and the Philippine Army through the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay, and Community Support Program respectively. ‘Likewise, Davao City was given the special local government unit award having been regarded as the safest city in the country,’ Delvo said. He commended the PRO-11 personnel for their respective contributions to sustain and support the anti-criminality efforts of the region.
