Cuban Book Fair Panel Discuss Mandela’s Struggle and Legacy

Hai Duong: Main venue of the 33rd Havana International Book Fair, is hosting today a panel on the legacy of South African leader Nelson Mandela. The panel at the Professional Book Salon is organized by Felicitas Lopez from Cuba, with participation from speakers including Dr. Fermin Robaina, Susel Abad, and Andre Artur Dalama, director of the Pedagogical School of the Cuito Cuanavale University in Angola.

According to Lao News Agency, South Africa is the Guest of Honor at this edition of the Fair. Mandela, considered the founding father of South Africa, is valued as a man who changed the 20th century and helped forge the 21st. He is recognized as a paradigm of the anti-apartheid struggle.

Mandela was driven by values such as absolute determination and a deep commitment to justice, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. He championed the equality and dignity of every woman and man and promoted dialogue and solidarity across all lines and divisions of belief and skin color in South Africa. His attitude and th
inking have had a global impact, radiating throughout the African continent and the world.

The Book Fair will conclude in Havana on February 23 and then continue throughout Cuba. It offers the public more than 2,400,000,000 books in both paper and digital formats.
