China helps promote skills development in Laos

Laos’ Vientiane Skills Development Centre signed last weekend a memorandum of understanding on China’s support for the capacity building of vocational teachers of the Lao centre with the Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity, China.

The cooperation between the two institutes, under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, aims to promote the skills development in Laos.

Under the MoU, the Chinese side will help improve teaching capacity of the centre in IT, electrical wiring, tailoring, and accounting management.

Signatories to the document included Director of the Vientiane Skills Development Centre Doi Vilanam and Director of the International Labour Organisation China Yudong Liew.

Relevant officials of both sides witnessed the signing ceremony.

Addressing the event, Mr Doi expressed gratitude to ILO-China and the Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity for their technical and financial support and expressed his hope that the donors will continue to provide assistance to the centre thus becoming its development partners.
