American outside hitter Annie Mitchem delivered 33 points and 14 excellent receptions as the Chargers snapped a nine-game losing streak.
According to Philippines News Agency, Akari coach Tina Salak expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the anticipation for a win against Creamline. This victory marked Akari’s first-ever win in 10 matches over the league’s winningest club. The coach credited the team effort and the coaches’ decision-making for the successful outcome.
Eli Soyud contributed 14 points, while middle blockers Fifi Sharma and Ced Domingo added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Mitchem shared her pride in the team’s resilience, noting the challenges faced during the match, which lasted three hours and 16 minutes.
On the opposing side, Courtney Schwan led Creamline with 26 points, including 21 attacks and five blocks, alongside 15 excellent digs and nine receptions. Skipper Alyssa Valdez added 18 points, 11 receptions, and nine digs in the absence of Jema Galanza, while Diana Mae Carlos scored 12 points.
Looking ahead, Akari will face Chery Tiggo at 1:30 p.m., and Creamline will meet Petro Gazz at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
