BUTUAN CITY: At least five pertussis patients have been confirmed from 24 suspected cases of the illness in the Caraga Region from Jan. 1 to May 12 this year.
In a report on Monday, the Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH-13) said two of the confirmed cases had died, while one of the suspected cases also succumbed to death.
The two confirmed cases who died were from Surigao del Norte, while the suspected case who died was from Agusan del Sur.
Of the five confirmed cases, four are recorded in Surigao del Norte and one in Agusan del Norte.
Currently, the region has three active pertussis cases.
‘The residents in the Caraga Region are encouraged to continue following the minimum public health standards for safety,” DOH-13 said.
