Camiguin debunks ‘food poisoning’ claims

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The provincial government of Camiguin has debunked claims of food poisoning, as some social media posts alleged.

Dr. Magnolia Naman, officer-in-charge of Catarman District Hospital in Catarman town, said no such cases occurred from July 29 to Aug. 4.

“During this period, no patients have sought consultation for symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea, and there have been no related hospital admissions due to food poisoning,” she said in a statement released Sunday evening.

The alleged food poisoning circulating in social media was attributed to Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo’s recent distribution of food packs to public school students in the province.

Naman said they released the statement to rectify any misinformation.

“We encourage everyone to rely on accurate reporting and to refrain from spreading false information that may cause unnecessary concern,” she said.
