Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has taken a significant step in ensuring the dissemination of accurate information for the upcoming national and local elections scheduled for May 12 by activating the Regional Media Action Center (RMAC).
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to facilitate a peaceful and credible electoral process. The RMAC will remain operational until May 18, serving as a key communication hub.
Calubaquib highlighted that the establishment of the RMAC illustrates the collaborative effort between the police and media practitioners to provide right, factual, and timely information before, during, and after the elections. The RMAC will serve as the central communication hub, coordinating information through official press releases, statements, and briefings led by the regional director, public information officer, and other senior officers. Regular press conferences will also be conducted to address election-related developments.
Moreover, the RMAC will be responsible for submitting critical incident reports involving media personnel to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) and providing daily updates to the National Media Action Center (NMAC). These measures underscore the unit's commitment to a transparent, secure, and well-informed electoral process, ensuring that information is conveyed accurately and with integrity.
All public information offices in provincial offices and the Naga City Police Office have activated their respective media action centers to facilitate real-time reporting. These local media action centers will coordinate with the central RMAC at Camp Ola to ensure personnel readiness, robust communication systems, and effective monitoring operations within their respective areas of responsibility.
PRO-5 remains steadfast in its obligation to foster trust, promote peace, and uphold the integrity of the 2025 elections.
