Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has apprehended 31 individuals connected to illegal drug activities, seizing more than PHP1 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations conducted from April 28 to May 4.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon reported that police operatives executed 25 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the capture of 31 individuals. Among those arrested were two high-value targets, 22 street-level suspects, and seven newly identified individuals. The operations led to the confiscation of 152.91 grams of shabu and 15.50 grams of marijuana.
The data indicates that Camarines Sur recorded the highest value of seized drugs at PHP476,536, followed by Albay with PHP263,260, Camarines Norte with PHP166,532, Naga City with PHP88,400, and Masbate with PHP46,920. The provinces of Catanduanes and Sorsogon reported zero drug seizures, showcasing the effectiveness of proactive police and community efforts in those regions.
Dizon commended the operating units for their dedication, skills, and teamwork, highlighting that these results demonstrate the region's intensified efforts to dismantle drug networks and safeguard the Bicolano community. "This achievement is more than just statistics; it reflects our ongoing fight to restore peace and protect lives. Every gram seized and every arrest made brings us a step closer to a safer, drug-free Bicol," he stated.
The PRO-5 expressed its commitment to enhancing intelligence-driven operations, strengthening community partnerships, and conducting public education campaigns as part of a comprehensive strategy for drug prevention and law enforcement.
