Antique water district assures concessionaires of enough supply

Antique: The Sibalom Water District has assured its concessionaires of enough water for drinking and household needs as rationing continues in barangays with insufficient supply.

Sibalom Water District Manager engineer Jonathan De Gracia on Tuesday said they have around 4,000 household concessionaires in their service areas covering 17 of the 76 barangays of the municipality.

‘The Sibalom Water District has right now five pumping stations that provide us an average of 5,000 cubic meters of water daily,’ he said.

De Gracia said water generated from the deep wells through their pumping stations is sufficient to meet the needs of their concessionaires.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also draws water from the three fire hydrants upon request of the local government unit.

‘The BFP also does not draw water for their rationing during the peak hours to make sure that our concessionaires are not being affected,’ he said.

The peak hours are from 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Areas experiencing
water shortage are not within the service areas of the water utility, or they are in the upland areas.

The water rationing covers Barangays Maasin, Esperanza II, Insarayan, Lacaron, Igdagmay, Salvacion, and Cadoldolan.

‘We are doing water rationing as assistance to the barangays,’ BFP Sibalom Fire Chief Senior Fire Officer 3 Richard Mijares said.
