Another endangered python returns to nature in Nghe An


A reticulated python weighing more than two kilogrammes was realeased into the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve in Que Phong district, the central province of Nghe An, on June 6. It was in stable condition when it returned to the nature. Python reticulatus is a critically endangered species listed in the 2007 Vietnam Red Data Book – a list of rare and endangered species of fauna and flora native to Vietnam. Pu Hoat, recognised as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO in September 2007, spans 90,000ha and boasts a high level of biodiversity. Over 1,240 species of plants and more than 790 species and subspecies of animals have been recorded here.
