Vientiane:Large crowds have gathered in Vientiane for the annual Ork Phansa and Boat Racing Festival, which marks the end of Buddhist Lent and celebrates Lao cultural traditions that have been passed down through generations. This festival not only allows residents and visitors to enjoy traditional festivities but also supports local businesses.
According to Lao News Agency, the festival features numerous vendor stalls offering a variety of goods, including One District One Product (ODOP) items. Among the popular attractions this year are stalls selling khao lam, which is sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes, and ping kai, a type of grilled chicken, both of which are traditional foods commonly enjoyed during Lao festivals.
Visitors are encouraged to remain vigilant and ensure their personal safety, especially those attending with young children, older individuals, or persons with disabilities. Festivalgoers are also urged to keep the area clean, helping to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment throughout the celebrations.
