Vientiane:Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, who is also a Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Member of the Government of Vietnam, visited key projects in Laos, including the National Population Database and Citizen Identification Card Project, as well as the Ministry of Public Security’s Command Center construction project.
According to Lao News Agency, the visit took place on September 21, 2026, and was part of his official visit to the Lao PDR. Pham Gia Tuc was accompanied by a Vietnamese delegation and warmly received by Major General Khonsavanh Somphaxay, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, along with other relevant officials.
During the visit, Brigadier General Kaenchan Phommachack, Director of the Department of Census Management and Grassroots Construction, provided a briefing to the Vietnamese delegation on the implementation of the National Population Database and Citizen Identification Card Project. He explained that the project aims to develop a modern population information system to enhance the completeness, reliability, and security of population data in Laos, noting that the project has successfully achieved its planned milestones.
The delegations also watched an informational video detailing the project’s implementation. Additionally, Pham Gia Tuc and his team inspected the progress of the Ministry of Public Security’s Command Center construction project.
