Laos and Norway Pledge to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Vientiane: Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide on July 23 to reaffirm both countries' commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.

According to Lao News Agency, the meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Manila, the Philippines. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the development of Laos-Norway ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991 and welcomed the opportunity to strengthen relations further.

They agreed to enhance cooperation, particularly in economic development, technology, and innovation, aiming to deliver more tangible benefits to both countries. The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation in areas of shared concern.
