Vientiane: 22 Lao students are set to embark on a transformative academic journey in Australia, thanks to scholarships awarded by the Australian Government. Vice Minister Daravone emphasized the importance of the opportunity, urging recipients to immerse themselves in their studies and return with valuable knowledge and skills to contribute to Laos' development.
According to Lao News Agency, the scholarships provided by Australia aim to enhance technical expertise and leadership capabilities in Laos. Among the awards, 20 are Australia Awards Scholarships, and two are part of the Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) programme. Ambassador Jones highlighted the inclusivity of the scholarships, which are open to both government and non-government employees from all sectors and backgrounds, underscoring Australia's long-standing partnership with Laos.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to cultivate future leaders, with over 1,500 Australia Awards alumni already making significant contributions to Laos' government and business sectors. These alumni are part of a larger network of more than 2,600 individuals who have pursued education and training in Australia, reflecting the enduring educational ties between the two nations.
Australia Awards and Mekong-Australia Partnership Scholarships provide Lao citizens the chance to pursue advanced qualifications in Master's, PhD, or Vocational Education and Training at esteemed Australian institutions. This prestigious programme is designed to equip the next generation of global leaders with the skills needed to drive progress and innovation.
