Lao And Vietnamese Presidents Meet In Hanoi

Hanoi: Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong met with visiting General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith in Hanoi on January 26. President Cuong expressed his pleasure at meeting the Lao leader and congratulated him on being re-elected as General Secretary of the 12th Central Committee of the LPRP. He noted that the re-election reflects the trust and recognition of the Party, State, and people of Laos for his contributions in recent years.

According to Lao News Agency, President Cuong emphasized that the Lao leader's selection of Vietnam as the first country to visit after the 12th National Congress of the LPRP holds political significance. It reaffirms the determination of the two Parties, States, and people to preserve and develop the friendship, solidarity, cooperation, and bond between Laos and Vietnam. Congratulating Laos on the successful organization of the 12th National Party Congress, President Cuong affirmed Vietnam's support for Laos and the intention to deepen the special solidarity between the two countries.

He highlighted that Vietnam-Laos relations are a strategic pillar for stability, development, and international integration, serving as a source of strength and motivation for both nations to preserve, develop, and pass on to future generations. The Lao leader congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on the successful organization of its 14th National Congress and expressed confidence in Vietnam's future successes under the leadership of the CPV.

The Lao leader briefed President Cuong on the outcomes of the 12th National Congress of the LPRP and thanked the CPV Central Committee and Party General Secretary To Lam for their support. He shared updates on Laos's recent situation and expressed gratitude for Vietnam's consistent support, affirming his commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

President Cuong welcomed the positive outcomes of Vietnam-Laos cooperation, stressing the importance of solidarity and coordination amid complex regional and global developments. The two sides agreed to continue taking strategic political ties as the guiding pillar of bilateral relations and to strengthen cooperation in defense, security, economy, trade, and investment.

Both leaders expressed confidence that the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam will continue to deepen, meeting development requirements in the new period.
