Vientiane: Mr. Maithong Thammavongsa, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, led a delegation to the Embassy of China in Vientiane on September 29, 2025, to extend congratulations on the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. He was welcomed by Ms. Fang Hong, Ambassador of China to Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Maithong conveyed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the Party Committee, leadership, and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Ms. Fang and the Embassy staff. He requested that his sentiments be passed on to China's Party Committee, leadership, and personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as to the Party and State leaders. He acknowledged the achievements of the Chinese people over the past 76 years, particularly in foreign affairs, which have significantly contributed to promoting peace, cooperation, development, and global connectivity.
The Vice Minister expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between Laos and China, including their respective ministries of foreign affairs. He highlighted that this cooperation has deepened in recent years through close working mechanisms, coordination, and consultation, which have ensured the effective implementation of agreements made by the high-level leaders of the two Parties and the two States.
The Lao side reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the traditional friendship and advancing the comprehensive, long-term, and stable strategic partnership between Laos and China, based on the Four Goods principle and the concept of building a Laos-China/China-Laos Community with a Shared Future. Laos pledged to continue implementing agreements reached at the highest levels and reiterated its adherence to the One-China principle, as well as mutual support in regional and international forums.
Ambassador Fang Hong expressed her gratitude for the warm congratulations extended by the Lao side. She affirmed that the Embassy and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue fostering close relations with the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She emphasized that both sides will work together to implement high-level agreements effectively, delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations.
