Vientiane: On August 26, 2025, Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Head of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, received a farewell visit from Ms. Siv-Leng Chhuor, Ambassador of France to the Lao PDR. According to Lao News Agency, during the visit, Mr. Bounleua welcomed the Ambassador and acknowledged her achievements during her four-year term in Laos. He highlighted her contributions in enhancing cooperative relations between Laos and France, which have developed steadily over the years. Mr. Bounleua expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the French government and people, particularly through the French Development Agency, which has significantly contributed to the development of the Lao PDR. He also wished the Ambassador a safe journey and success in her future endeavors. Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor expressed her appreciation for the reception and thanked the Lao Party and State for the support provided during her diplomatic mission in Laos. She prai sed the achievements of the Lao PDR, highlighting President Thongloun Sisoulith's official visit to France in 2024 as a key event in bilateral relations. She reiterated her commitment to continue supporting efforts to strengthen cooperation between Laos and France. Laos and France established their diplomatic relations on October 22, 1953.
