Ilocos norte: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is offering a theoretical driving course and road safety seminar for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Ilocos Norte. Carolyn Domingo, the disability affairs officer of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, announced that the activity is scheduled for August 14 and 15.

According to Philippines News Agency, the event will take place at the Function Hall of the Dormitory Building of the Centennial Arena and will accommodate 100 participants, each accompanied by representatives from various local government units within the province. This initiative is part of the 47th National Disability Rights Week celebrations, which focus on "Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together."

This marks the second time the Provincial Disability Affairs Office has organized such a course, aiming to enhance accessibility and inclusion for PWDs in national and community development. The free course is in line with LTO Region 1's directive to provide essential government services to local communities.

The two-day course is designed to equip participants with the fundamental knowledge necessary for responsible and safe driving. Key topics include land transportation laws, road signs and markings, traffic rules and regulations, and defensive driving techniques. Through this outreach program, the LTO seeks to empower residents, particularly PWDs, by making the process of acquiring a driver's license more accessible.
