Phnom penh: On July 25, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, together with his spouse and delegation, paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia as part of his official visit to the Kingdom from July 24-26, 2025.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Thongsavanh expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by the Cambodian royal family. He conveyed greetings from President Thongloun Sisoulith to His Majesty and Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. Mr. Thongsavanh also acknowledged Cambodia's development and improvements in the quality of life for its citizens.
The Lao Foreign Minister provided updates on the domestic situation in the Lao PDR and shared outcomes from his recent bilateral meeting with Mr. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, noting that their discussions concluded successfully.
Both parties expressed pride in the longstanding friendship, good neighborliness, and traditional ties between Laos and Cambodia, emphasizing the tangible benefits these relations have brought to the peoples of both nations.
His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni warmly received the Lao delegation and valued the visit, expressing hopes for continued success and further strengthening of bilateral cooperation and friendship.
Later in the day, Mr. Thongsavanh met with Mr. Kitti Setha Pundit Cheam Yap, Acting President and First Vice President of the National Assembly of Cambodia. The two leaders discussed deepening cooperation, particularly between the two legislative bodies and within the framework of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
