Laos Steps Up AI Application in Education Development

Vientiane: (KPL/VNA)A symposium highlighting practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in education was held in Laos on June 30, aiming to enhance awareness of AI among principals and teachers from private schools nationwide.

According to Lao News Agency, the symposium was organized by the Association of Private Education (APE) and brought together 120 participants, including entrepreneurs, education administrators, principals, and teachers from various regions such as Vientiane, XiengKhouang, Bokeo, LuangNamtha, LuangPrabang, and Bolikhamxay. The event aimed to elevate the understanding and implementation of AI in educational settings.

The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports has reported that the programme is designed to provide teachers with practical skills and strategies for utilizing AI. This initiative seeks to enable schools to innovate their teaching methods and enhance their ability to support students in an ever-evolving educational environment. The focus is on preparing educators to integrate AI effectively into their curriculums, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in private schools across Laos.

APE President Khamsen Sisavong addressed the symposium, stressing the significance of training programmes for the integration of AI into education. He highlighted the potential of AI to improve teaching and learning quality, which is critical for the development of private educational institutions in the country.

During the event, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on the application of AI in various subjects. These discussions aimed to improve teaching efficiency and effectiveness, particularly in aiding students with research, information analysis, and data collection in today's digital age.
