Vientiane: A high-level delegation from Champasak Province, led by Governor Alounxay Sounnalat, paid an official visit to Vientiane Capital on June 4, 2025. The delegation was warmly received by Vientiane Capital Governor Atsaphangthong Siphandone and his team.

According to Lao News Agency, during the meeting, both sides exchanged updates on their respective socio-economic development achievements, including successful initiatives, favorable conditions, and ongoing challenges. Governor Alounxay emphasized that the visit aimed to enhance and deepen cooperation between the two localities, highlighting the importance of creating stronger ties across sectors, particularly in tourism, to boost mutual development.

Both parties reviewed past collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing efforts. Notably, Champasak and Vientiane Capital have signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), covering six key areas: industry and commerce, agriculture and forestry, information, culture, and tourism, public works and transport, finance, and special economic zones. These areas were identified as critical to fostering robust economic growth, stability, and sustainable development under Laos' policy of economic self-determination.

The partnership also seeks to address both short-term and long-term financial and economic challenges by promoting a socialist-oriented market economy. Both sides pledged to work with greater responsibility and determination under the leadership of their respective Party Committees, to improve livelihoods, ensure political stability, and promote social harmony.

To deepen this partnership, both sides agreed to intensify cooperation and mutual assistance in practical sectors, such as economic and trade cooperation by establishing trade networks, prioritizing product exchanges, and strengthening supply chains. Additionally, they aim to enhance knowledge sharing by exchanging best practices to improve economic competitiveness and productivity, and to build robust agricultural networks to boost output and efficiency.

This renewed commitment underscores the shared vision of Champasak and Vientiane Capital to advance regional development, elevate standards of living, and ensure lasting socio-economic progress across the country.
