Vientiane: Senior leaders of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Government paid their respects to the late Tran Duc Luong, former President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, during a condolence ceremony held on the afternoon of May 24, 2025, at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Vientiane.
According to Lao News Agency, Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the Lao PDR, led the high-level delegation representing the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Lao Front for National Development to attend the tribute ceremony.
The Lao delegation paid solemn tribute to the memory of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, who formerly served as a Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. He passed away on May 20, 2025.
On this occasion, President Thongloun Sisoulith wrote in the book of condolences, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the Party, Government, and people of Laos. He highlighted the profound condolences on the passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, acknowledging his significant contributions and vital role in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
The message from President Sisoulith emphasized that Tran Duc Luong was a close friend and comrade of the Party, State, and people of Laos. His contributions and noble deeds, particularly in fostering the relations between the two nations, were highly praised and will always be remembered.
In concluding his tribute, President Sisoulith expressed heartfelt sympathy and shared sorrow with the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, and the entire Vietnamese people.
