889 new Covid-19 cases, three more fatalities recorded

Some 889 new Covid-19 cases and three new deaths have been reported nationwide over the past 24 hours, according to the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference today that the newly reported infections, detected among 3,867 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday, have raised the total number to 80,722 including 12,088 active cases and 210 deaths. The day witnessed some 839 patients were discharged from hospital.

Most domestic infections were documented in Vientiane with 263, Luang Prabang 87, Oudomxay 82, Vientiane (province) and Xayabury 66 each, Huaphan 54, Bokeo 51 and Savannakhet 39.

Meanwhile, 32 were recorded in Luang Namtha, 28 in Xekong, 25 in Champassak, 21 in Xieng Khuang, 19 in Xaysomboun, 18 in Saravan, ten in Khammuan, nine each in Borikhamxay and Attapeu and six in Phongsaly
