5 fugitives nabbed in Bicol manhunt ops

LEGAZPI CITY: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) reported on Thursday the arrest of wanted persons in the region under its two-day intensified operations against criminals.

Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said the police authorities arrested the suspects –one most wanted person at the regional level, one at the provincial level, and two at the municipal level, along with another wanted person– during two-day operations on July 2 to 3.

“On July 2, suspect alias “Roby,” 25, a food delivery boy from Lipa City, Batangas province, was arrested in Masbate City. He is listed as one of the most wanted persons of PRO4A. He faces charges of statutory rape, sexual assault, and child abuse with no bail recommended,” Calubaquib said.

She said one alias “Richmond,” 31, from Panitan, Capiz, and the No. 9 provincial most wanted of Masbate, was arrested in Barangay Sublangon, Pontevedra, Capiz, for homicide.

“While Rosella, 45, of Barangay San Benito, Goa, Camarines Sur, No. 8 municipal most wanted
person, was arrested last Wednesday by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 33, Pili, Camarines Sur, on May 31, 2007, for qualified theft, and Cardo, 40, of Barangay Halawig-gogon, also from the same town and No. 1 municipal most wanted person, was arrested for two counts of rape,” Calubaquib said.

Moreover, “Rudito,” 38, of Daraga, Albay, was arrested in the same town under a warrant of arrest for statutory rape.

In a statement, PRO5 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon lauded the operatives behind these successful arrests and the community, which play an essential role in the pursuit of their mandated tasks to serve and protect.

He also assured that the Bicol police will continue to make the region a safer place to live, work, and do business.
