32nd National Tour Guide Training Successfully Concludes in Laos

Vientiane: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism held the closing ceremony of the 32nd National Tour Guide Training on July 24, 2025, following a comprehensive 55-day program conducted from May 5 to July 22. The event was attended by Mr. Amkha Vongmeunka, Director of the Institute of Culture and Tourism, along with trainees and officials.

According to Lao News Agency, the program utilized a modular learning system, including simultaneous courses and examinations. The curriculum comprised 22 subjects, categorized into five general knowledge, seven basic knowledge, and ten specialized knowledge subjects. Sixteen of these subjects were formally assessed.

Participants benefited from special lectures on tourism development, business management, and tourism advertising. The training involved various methods, including lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, classroom drama, presentations, practical exercises, and study tours to different tourist sites.

Evaluation results indicated strong performance, with 80% of participants demonstrating very good understanding across topics such as tourism industry operations, tourist safety, communication skills, Lao traditions and culture, and more. Additionally, 70% of trainees showed proficiency in tour guide competencies like tour commentary, time management, and problem-solving techniques.

Another 80% exhibited very good understanding of essential tour guide qualities, such as human relations, service psychology, communication, and a willingness to continuously improve. The Ministry emphasized that the training is vital for developing skilled, knowledgeable, and professional tour guides, essential for supporting the growth of the Lao tourism sector.
