Some 153 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded nationwide over the past twenty-four hours with most of the cases reported in Savannakhet and Champassak.
The new infections, all classified as imported cases from neighbouring countries, included 93 in Savannakhet, 36 in Champassak, 13 in Saravan, 10 in Khammuan and one in Vientiane.
“Today, Laos has a total of 3,863 confirmed cases of Covid-19. This includes five deaths and 1,322 active cases,” said Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health Phonepaseuth Xayamoungkhoun.
Between the beginning of June and July 20, some 1,849 Covid-19 cases were detected, mostly among returning workers from Thailand. These included 834 cases in Champassak and 785 in Savannakhet.
