13K affordable housing units to rise in Angeles City

A total of 13,000 housing units will be constructed in Barangay Mining this city as part of the government’s efforts to provide decent and affordable housing to Filipino families. The move is under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program which aims to address the country’s housing backlog by providing safe and sustainable shelters to 6.5 million families in six years. Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said on Friday the city government of Angeles and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) have already signed a memorandum of agreement for the housing project. ‘Our efforts to provide decent housing for our constituents, including government workers and teachers, will continue as we identify new areas where we can construct more affordable housing units,’ Lazatin said in a statement. A Pag-IBIG Fund desk will be established in the city hall starting July 3 to provide ease of registration for those interested to avail of housing units. Applicants must be a registered Pag-IBIG member with an updated account. Alongside the Pag-IBIG help desk is the registration desk where bonafide AngeleƱos can apply for the city’s housing program. Under the project, 12 buildings with 22 stories each will be established in the city to accommodate the qualified beneficiaries. Lazatin said this is an opportunity of a lifetime for his constituents to have a decent home, making this city a part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “1 million housing units per year’ target.
