12th National Games Vientiane 2025 Scheduled for November

Vientiane: The 12th National Games, also known as the Vientiane Games 2025, are scheduled to take place from November 15 to 25, 2025, in Vientiane Capital. The Games will feature the That Luang Stupa as the official emblem and a peacock as the mascot, with the slogan ‘Unity, Discipline – Transparency – Development’ guiding the event.



According to Lao News Agency, the event will see participation from more than 2,000 athletes competing in 33 sports and one demonstration sport, covering approximately 400 events. The 4th National Para Games will follow in early December 2025.



Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane and President of the Organising Committee, announced at a press conference that preparations are proceeding efficiently, with over 95% of facilities and venues ready. A final inspection is set for October 30, 2025, to ensure full readiness.



Vientiane Capital has arranged ample accommodation, with hotels and guesthouses prepared to host athletes, coaches, and officials from all 17 provinces and the capital. Educational institutions will not be used for lodging.



Technical and regulatory arrangements have been approved by respective sports federations to ensure fair competition and promote sportsmanship, solidarity, and friendship.



Preparations in logistics, healthcare, sanitation, security, city beautification, and public transport are well advanced, aiming to create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for participants and visitors.



The Torch Relay began on October 12, 2025, starting from the Vientiane Administration Office and moving through Sangthong District. It will cover all nine districts of Vientiane, with two provinces participating in each district. The Sacred Torch Ceremony is set for November 14, with the torch entering the stadium during the opening ceremony on November 15, 2025.
