The Lao National Assembly and the State Great Khural of Mongolia have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, according to report of the Mongolian News Agency on Sept 11. The Lao National Assembly and the State Great Khural of Mongolia have signed the Memorandum of Cooperation, according to report of the Mongolian News Agency on Sep 8.



MoU was signed by the President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Xaysomphone Phomvihane and the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav.



The Memorandum of Cooperation is significant as it consolidates the legal grounding of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and facilitates favorable conditions for further expansion and development of cooperation. After this ceremony, the representatives of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led by the President Xaysomphone visited the “Ikh Khuraldai” Hall, where the Parliament Sessions are held.



Mongolia and the Lao PDR established diplomatic relations on September 12, 1962. Mongolia opened its Embassy in Vientiane in 1976 and the Lao PDR in Ulaanbaatar in 1981 respectively.
