Vientiane: The Deputy Foreign Minister of Laos recently met with a Romanian Presidential Advisor to discuss avenues for cooperation between Laos and Romania. The talks focused on enhancing collaboration within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including their participation in the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). Both parties shared perspectives on expanding their partnership in the coming years.
According to Lao News Agency, the Lao representatives emphasized their national development priorities as outlined in the National Socio-Economic Development Plan. Key areas of focus include infrastructure connectivity, rural development, poverty reduction, green growth, environmental protection, and digital transformation, all aimed at supporting sustainable socio-economic development.
The Romanian delegation showed interest in deepening cooperation across various sectors and emphasized the importance of fostering closer ties between the two nations. In a related development, Dacian Ciolo?, a Romanian official, also engaged with the Executive Board of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore future trade and investment opportunities.
Laos and Romania have maintained diplomatic relations since November 25, 1962, and share a common membership in the International Organization of La Francophonie.
