Seminar boosts Vietnam – France cinema connection


A seminar highlighting the relationship between the Vietnamese and French cinema was held on July 3 as part of the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF II), bringing together crowds of film experts from both countries. Participants shared experiences from France, provided suggestions for the Vietnamese cinema industry, and discussed the influence of French documentary cinema on its Vietnamese peer, among others.

Thriving exports push Tien Giang closer to yearly goal


The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang is making significant strides toward its yearly export target of 5 billion USD, thanks to a thriving performance in the first half of this year. Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade Luu Van Phi said the locality has already secured 2.97 billion USD in exports during the period, up nearly 11% annually and reaching around 60% of the yearly goal.

PM visits Samsung’s semiconductor cluster in RoK’s Gyeonggi province


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage on July 3 visited Samsung’s semiconductor cluster in Gyeonggi province as part of his official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK). Samsung Vice Chairman and CEO Young Hyun Jun, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Samsung Electronics Park Hark-kyu and senior leaders of the group accompanied the Vietnamese PM in touring Samsung’s largest semiconductor cluster in the world.

Vietnam urges stronger int’l cooperation to resolve climate change impacts on livelihoods


Vietnamese Ambassador Mai Phan Dung has urged the international community to enhance cooperation to effectively deal with climate change impacts on people’s livelihoods, stressing that ensuring sustainable livelihoods is a top priority of developing countries. Dung, who is Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva, made the appeal while representing the core group of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) resolution on human rights and climate change, comprising Vietnam, Bangladesh and the Philippines, to address a debate on ensuring sustainable livelihoods in the face of climate change impacts. The event was part of the HRC’s 56th session in Geneva.

2024 Vietnamese Culture Days in Russia opens


The 2024 Vietnamese Culture Days in Russia programme opened in Moscow on July 2, with a wide range of activities being held throughout this week. Attending the opening ceremony were Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Andrey Yatskin, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.
