Vientiane: The Propaganda and Training Board of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Lao PDR, organized a commemorative lecture in Vientiane on August 27 to mark the 80th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam.

According to Lao News Agency, the event saw the participation of Deputy Head of the board Vilavone Phanthavong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, along with senior officials from Party organizations, the Lao Front for National Development, the Lao Veterans' Federation, relevant ministries, and mass organizations.

On September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, declaring the independence, freedom, and equality of the Vietnamese people to the world.

In her speech, Mrs. Phanthavong discussed the shared revolutionary history of Laos and Vietnam, noting that the ties between the two nations date back to the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930 by President Ho Chi Minh. She spoke about the bonds formed through decades of joint struggle and unity for independence, peace, and development.

She cited President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, 'Helping friends is like helping ourselves,' to commend the special solidarity between the peoples of Laos and Vietnam as crucial in their national liberation movements and as a basis for long-term cooperation.

The deputy head also acknowledged the leadership of the CPV over the past eight decades, highlighting Vietnam's achievements in national renewal (Doi Moi), political stability, economic development, improved living standards, and its growing international influence.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam addressed the event, emphasizing the significance of the August Revolution in 1945 as a pivotal moment in Vietnamese history. He praised the enduring special solidarity and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, which has remained strong from their joint struggles against colonial forces to their close cooperation in nation-building.

The ambassador remarked on the uniqueness of the Vietnam-Laos relationship, rooted in a shared revolutionary foundation. The two Parties, tracing their origins to the Indochinese Communist Party, have historically supported each other, overcoming adversities for the freedom and well-being of their peoples.
